Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah arrived in Bhopal on Sunday to participate in the State-level Cooperative Conference, where he was welcomed by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav.

During the visit, Shah is scheduled to sign a major agreement between the state’s dairy unions and the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), aiming to strengthen the cooperative dairy infrastructure and increase milk production across the state.

Shah will also review the functioning of the state’s cooperative department, as part of his broader mission to boost rural livelihoods and self-reliance through cooperative frameworks.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed optimism about the visit, calling it a “boon for all milk-producing sectors.” He noted that Madhya Pradesh currently ranks third in milk production, and the state is striving to claim the top spot.

“With this initiative, we want to ensure that MP becomes number one in milk production. Our vision is to see dairy products from MP, like those of Amul, reach global markets,” Yadav said.

The Chief Minister also spoke about the Kam Dhenu scheme, launched in honour of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, under which ₹2,500 crore has been allocated this year for the expansion and development of gaushalas (cow shelters).

Highlighting the government’s broader commitment to agriculture and rural development, Yadav emphasized efforts in irrigation, infrastructure, and the empowerment of women, farmers, and youth.

He also drew attention to the Jal Ganga Conservation Mission, an ongoing initiative aimed at preserving and restoring water resources across districts, tehsils, and villages.

“Our mission focuses on cleaning and reviving wells, ponds, and rivers. These efforts are being monitored closely to ensure effective implementation,” Yadav said.

The collaboration between the state’s dairy unions and NDDB, facilitated by Shah’s visit, is expected to play a pivotal role in transforming Madhya Pradesh’s dairy sector and uplifting rural communities.
